How do I use World ID for Zoom?

What is World ID for Zoom?

World ID for Zoom is an app that uses World ID verification to confirm you are a real, unique person on video calls. Key features:

  • Proof of Human in every Zoom meeting — verified by the Orb
  • Authenticates on join, automatically — no manual action needed during meetings
  • Live selfie, on-device match — privacy-first verification without oversharing
  • Everyone in the meeting can see who is verified via the secure Human Badge

Why it's important and what sets World ID for Zoom apart

Watch a quick overview of how World ID for Zoom works in a meeting:

This guide is for people setting up the app for themselves. If your organization is deploying World ID for Zoom centrally, use the Enterprise setup and use guide or follow your IT administrator’s instructions.

For organization-managed setup, see Enterprise setup and use.

Before you begin

  • Download the Zoom desktop app on macOS or Windows.
  • A phone with the World ID app installed and notifications enabled.
  • An Orb-verified World ID.

If you have not installed World ID on your phone, complete these steps before connecting to Zoom. If World ID is already installed, open it and sign in.

  1. Install the World ID app: App Store | Google Play
  2. Open the World ID app and sign in.

If you previously used World App, sign in to World ID with the same Apple, Google, or passkey login method you used for your account. Your Orb verification carries over automatically. If you are not yet Orb-verified, complete verification before connecting to Zoom.

Your organization may control app installation and meeting-access settings. If an option is unavailable or requires approval, contact your Zoom administrator. A meeting invitation to use World ID does not override those restrictions.

Install World ID for your account

  1. Open the World ID listing in Zoom App Marketplace: World ID on Zoom App Marketplace

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal and open Settings → Zoom Apps.
  2. Under Meeting, enable Share realtime meeting content with apps.
  3. Under Apps that access content in meetings, add World ID if needed.
  4. Select the pencil icon beside World ID.
  5. In Meeting access for World ID, all four meeting options should already be checked. Leave them selected:
    1. Meetings you own
    2. Meetings you attend
    3. Internally hosted meetings
    4. Externally hosted meetings
  6. Set Participants on your account and Participants outside your account to Always allow, then select Confirm.

Account connection is a one-time setup. Future authentication requests ask you to complete a live selfie when prompted.

Authenticate in a meeting

  1. Start or join a meeting in the Zoom desktop app with your camera on.
  2. The World ID panel should open automatically after setup. If it does not, select More → Apps → World ID.
  3. Look into your Zoom camera while a frame is captured.

Continue in World ID app - Notification.png
  4. After a Zoom frame is captured, you will receive a push notification in the World ID app.
  5. Open the World ID notification on your phone and complete the live selfie check.
    • Ensure even lighting across your face.
    • Remove anything covering your face.
    • Hold your device at eye level.
  6. Look for It’s a match! Your Human Badge then appears in Zoom.

Understand your Human Badge

The Human Badge gives meeting participants a visible signal that you completed authentication. People can see the badge without installing World ID. To inspect the authentication certificate, they need the app installed and running.

Keep your camera on and the World ID app running in Zoom for the badge to remain visible.

Participant status

Verified means the participant completed authentication. Not Verified means they have not completed it or do not currently hold a valid badge.

If World ID asks you to authenticate again, follow the meeting steps above. You do not need to repeat account connection.

Meeting video and access notices

World ID matches a frame from your Zoom video with your Orb-verified image and a live selfie taken on your phone. Video is used solely for human verification.

Zoom may display a meeting-content access notice to attendees, including people who do not use World ID. The notice appears because verification accesses meeting video.

Hosts can explain: “We’re using World ID to verify participants. Zoom displays this notice because verification uses meeting video.”

Troubleshooting

The app does not open

Select More → Apps → World ID. If the problem continues, review the auto-open and auto-start settings above. If your organization controls the settings, contact your Zoom administrator.

I cannot install the app or Get Started does nothing

Open the Marketplace listing and check whether installation or an approval request is available. If your account is managed by an organization and you cannot proceed, ask your Zoom administrator for help.

No phone notification arrives

Enable World ID notifications in your phone settings. If a notification still does not arrive, review app installation and meeting-access settings. If Zoom displays Resend, use it to request another notification.

The match fails or the badge is missing

Turn on your Zoom camera, face it directly, and make sure your face is visible in good lighting. Complete the phone selfie check and confirm a successful match. If you use an external monitor, look toward the camera, not the monitor. Reopen World ID and review startup settings if the badge still does not appear.

Manage your connection

Each World ID can connect to one Zoom account at a time. Disconnect the current account before switching.

Removing the Zoom app and disconnecting the World ID account link are separate actions. To remove the Zoom app, open Zoom App Marketplace → Manage → Added Apps, find World ID, and select Remove. Disconnect the World ID account link separately if you want to unlink the accounts.

Get help

To report a technical issue, open the World ID panel and select Report an issue. Describe the problem, review the consent request for sharing the report and related verification data, then submit. A bug report does not open a support conversation.
